Food Capsules & Granules - Frequently asked questions - Page 5

Do Seagreens® provide the RDA of any nutrient?

Yes, just as most natural foods provide the complete daily requirement of some but not all the RDAs. That is why we need a good variety of natural food to 'fill the gaps' in our total requirement. The  government ‘RDA’ is an arbitrary measure which should not be seen as the appropriate daily intake for each particular nutrient or person, since it is based on national averages and is meant as a guide.

Such ‘Recommended Daily Allowances’ are calculated for theoretical ‘average’ members of very large populations so are not ‘real’ or necessarily sensible for any individual. In the opinion of many nutritionists it is better to have a natural balance of all the nutrients on a daily basis in smaller amounts than larger amounts infrequently.

While our bodies do need more of some nutrients than others we do not necessarily help the body by giving it large amounts of certain nutrients, especially those it can make itself. Boosting the amounts of particular nutrients can upset this broader natural balance which is far too delicate to exactly determine any individual requirement.

Professional guidance is always advisable before a significant increase in any nutrients including one or all of the B vitamins.

As an example, here are typical comparative values where measured for B vitamins in Seagreens®:

Will Seagreens® give me enough Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)?

EFA's are present in Seagreens but in minute amounts. A complementary supplement of natural EFA's is recommended and because of their outstanding profile of all the other nutrients, Seagreens® are in any case a very sensible combination food to ensure the proper metabolism of the EFA's.

Seagreens® Iodine+ Capsules
Seagreens® Iodine+ Capsules provide more than the RDA for iodine, which research indicates among other things may help prevent breast cancer
